The changes affect the National Examinations Council, the National Board for Technical Education, the Federal Polytechnic Nyak-Shendam and the National Library of Nigeria, all under the Federal Ministry of Education.

Tinubu appointed Modupe Adeola Adelabu as chair of NECO’s governing board, while retaining Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi as registrar.

He also named Bongfa Binfa as rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Nyak-Shendam, and renewed the tenure of Chinwe Veronica Anunobi as director-general of the National Library.

For NBTE, Tinubu appointed Babatunde Salako as chairman and reappointed Idris M Bugaje as executive secretary for a second and final five-year term.

Adelabu, a former deputy governor of Ekiti State, previously chaired NBTE and is a retired professor of educational administration at Obafemi Awolowo University.

Salako, a former director-general of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, is a researcher with experience in higher education and policy leadership.

Binfa succeeds Mukaila Zakari Ya’u, whose tenure as pioneer rector ended in March 2026. Binfa was appointed for a single five-year term following a selection process that began in September 2025, according to the presidency.

He holds a PhD in mechanical engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and previously served as deputy rector at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.

Anunobi, first appointed in 2021, will serve a final five-year term. During her tenure, the National Library has introduced digital initiatives including a national repository and virtual library, while advancing plans for its headquarters project in Abuja.

“The President expects that the renewal of her tenure will ensure continuity in ongoing reforms and completion of key projects,” a presidential spokesperson said.
