ACCRA, Sept 9 (The African Portal) – Talent Hour for Persons with Disabilities (TH4D), a not-for-profit organisation based in Accra, is set to embark on a regional amputee soccer tour in 2025 to identify and nurture persons with disabilities for Ghana’s amputees soccer teams.
The tour will cover six administrative regions, with nearby regions merged for broader participation. According to TH4D’s founder and CEO, Obeng Ansah, the initiative seeks to promote inclusion, raise awareness, and discover hidden talents among persons with disabilities.
He explained that TH4D has supported amputee soccer players for years, but many aspiring players remain unreached. The regional tour, he said, will bridge this gap and create new opportunities.
Players discovered during the tour will later converge in Accra for a regional amputee soccer tournament on December 3, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. The event coincides with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
“Each region will present ten selected players. After an intense display of skill and resilience, the top three teams will be celebrated,” Mr. Ansah noted. He added that every participant will be recognised and linked with amputee football clubs across the country to ensure no talent is overlooked.
Since its inception in 2013, TH4D has created opportunities for persons with disabilities in sports, entertainment, and skills development. The organisation initiated Ghana’s first Amputee Football League (2018/2019), supported the 2022 Amputee Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania, the 2023 Africa Para Games in Ghana, and the 2024 Amputee AFCON in Egypt, where Ghana emerged champions.
Mr. Ansah, however, noted that financial constraints limit the organisation’s efforts. He appealed to corporate bodies, philanthropists, and benevolent organisations to support the 2025 tour, which he said will cost the ngo some GH¢300,000.
He said the NGO is ready to partner any company for the tour, stressing that it was ready to use the brand name of the partner for the amputee regional tour. For sponsorship or partnership, contact: 0206932234 / 0547831518 / 0549161473.
