ACCRA, Sept 9 (The African Portal) – The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has expressed deep concern over the reported Israeli strike in Doha, Qatar, warning that the attack risks endangering an already fragile situation in the Middle East.
The Chairperson reaffirmed the AU’s call for restraint, respect for sovereignty, and the protection of civilians.
He further noted Qatar’s longstanding role in peace, mediation, and diplomacy, underscoring the urgent need for renewed dialogue towards a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.
Israel and Palestinian based militant group, Hamas, have been fighting for more than a year ago. The war has resulted in many deaths and significant damages to properties in Palestine.
Although many world leaders have called for an end to the war, the two warring nations seem not to heed to these calls.
