ACCRA, Jan 27 (THE AFRICAN PORTAL) – The family of former Ghanaian first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings on Tuesday dismissed as false a publication circulating on social media that claims to show her purported will.
Agyeman-Rawlings, 76, died on Oct. 23, 2025 at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. The Government of Ghana held a state funeral for her on Friday, November 28, same year.
Agyeman-Rawlings was married to Jerry John Rawlings, Ghana’s longest-serving head of state and later president, who died in 2020. The couple had four children.
In a statement, the Agyeman-Rawlings family said the document was “a concocted fabrication” and urged the public to treat it with “absolute contempt.”
The family said it was taking steps to address the false publication.
“The Agyeman-Rawlings family is still in a state of mourning,” the statement said, calling on the public to respect the reputation and dignity of the former first lady and to accord the family privacy.
The statement was signed by Kobina Andoh Amoakwa on behalf of the family.
