ACCRA, Oct 10 (the African Portal) – Flagbearer aspirants of Ghana’s opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have drawn their positions on the ballot paper ahead of the party’s presidential primary set for 31 January 2026.
The exercise, held at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Friday, saw former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong draw the top spot on the ballot.
Former Agriculture Minister Dr Bryan Acheampong picked the second position, while former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia widely seen as the frontrunner drew the third slot.
Former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum and former party General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong drew the fourth and fifth positions respectively.
The balloting was supervised by the NPP’s National Elections Committee in line with the party’s internal electoral guidelines issued on 29 July.
