Trump has said NATO’s stance on Greenland is a “big problem” after allies showed resistance to his position that it should belong to the United States and not Denmark.
“Greenland is a big problem for us,” he told reporters at the opening of a key NATO summit in Ankara, saying it was “very important for the United States, but it’s not important for Denmark”.
“We need it for protection of the world, not just the United States.. It doesn’t help Denmark, but it helps us.”
Meanwhile, Syria’s President Ahmed al-Sharaa has arrived in Ankara where he is due to meet Trump on the sidelines of NATO summit, Turkish television stations reported.
