ACCRA, Oct 16 (The African Portal) – Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen’s Movement for Change has rebranded as the United Party (UP Plus), marking a fresh political chapter and reviving a name steeped in Ghana’s political history.

Speaking at the official launch, party chairman Abubakar Saddique Boniface said the new identity symbolises a renewed commitment to good governance and transformational leadership.

“Today, we present to you the United Party or UP Plus — a political organisation meant to bring real change to governance,” he said. “We will make a difference because of our focus on universal values and the leadership of competence.”

Mr Kyerematen, who leads the party, said the rebrand represented a “new dawn” for Ghanaian politics, aimed at promoting accountability, fighting corruption, and offering an alternative to the country’s winner-takes-all political system.

“This new dawn will drive economic transformation, create jobs, and usher in a golden age of business and prosperity,” he said. “It will mobilise the collective strengths of all Ghanaians for national development, regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation.”

He added that the party would champion transparent governance, enforce zero tolerance for corruption, and promote sustainable development.

The Electoral Commission formally registered the United Party (UP Plus) on October 3, 2025, cementing its new political identity.
