The event, scheduled for September 16 at the Cedi Conference Centre, University of Ghana, is expected to serve as a springboard to rejuvenate the sector.

Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, in a promo video, emphasised that considering the huge potential of the global film industry, Ghana stands to benefit tremendously if its film sector is properly repositioned.

She explained that a well-developed film industry could create jobs while also serving as a powerful tool to project Ghana’s culture to the rest of the world.

The minister further noted that Ghana has the potential to tap into the over $90 billion global film economy.

“We must promote our culture through our movies,” she stressed.

Dzifa Gomashie expressed optimism that the dialogue will influence policy decisions, as it will bring together key stakeholders across the industry.

Ghana remains one of the powerhouses of the film industry in West Africa, with a rich pool of celebrated actors and actresses.
