LAGOS, Sept 23 (The African Portal) – Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has been admitted as a voting member of the Recording Academy ahead of the 2026 Grammy Awards.

As a member, Davido will take part in the decision-making process that determines Grammy winners. He described the development as “a gamechanger.”

“I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season,” he said in a video broadcast.

He added that he was honoured to join the Recording Academy and looked forward to casting his first votes.

Davido received his first three Grammy nominations in 2024 but did not win in any category. His fourth nomination came through his collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay on Sensational, which was shortlisted for Best African Music Performance at the 2025 Grammys but lost to Tems’ Love Me Jeje.
