MOROCCO, Apr 22 (THE AFRICAN PORTAL) – The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations faces uncertainty after a Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspection raised concerns over infrastructure delays in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, the tournament’s joint hosts.
The tournament, scheduled for June 19 to July 18, 2027, is set to be the first to be co-hosted by three countries. However, the latest assessment highlights concerns over whether key facilities will be completed on time.
According to the inspection findings, several stadium projects remain behind schedule, with particular concerns raised in Uganda where none of the venues inspected currently meet CAF’s top-tier requirements.
Major projects, including the Hoima stadium and upgrades to the Nelson Mandela National Stadium, are reported to be progressing slowly, raising questions about readiness ahead of the tournament.
The report has revived speculation that CAF could consider contingency plans, including a possible relocation, though no formal decision has been announced.
