ACCRA, Nov 26 (The African Portal) – Ghana have been placed in Pot 4 for the 2026 FIFA World Cup group-stage draw, scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C., on December 5.
The Black Stars join Jordan, Cabo Verde, Curaçao, Haiti, New Zealand, four UEFA play-off winners and two FIFA play-off tournament qualifiers in Pot 4. Their seeding reflects their ranking among the lowest-placed teams to have qualified for the expanded 48-nation tournament.
Other African representatives secured higher seedings. Morocco and Senegal are in Pot 2, while Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa are in Pot 3.
Under the draw format, Ghana are expected to face a top-ranked team from Pot 1 — which includes the likes of Spain, Argentina and England — as well as a Pot 2 side such as Croatia, Japan or Uruguay. No group will contain more than one African team.
Ghana booked their place at the World Cup after topping Group I on 25 points, ahead of Mali, Madagascar, Chad, the Central African Republic and Comoros.
The Black Stars will learn their group opponents when the draw is conducted on December 5.
