ACCRA, Oct 29 (The African Portal) — Ghana’s Bono Regional Police Command has suspended several officers shown in a viral video allegedly accepting money from motorists, the police said in a statement on Tuesday.
The decision followed the circulation of a video on social media showing the officers allegedly engaging in bribery while on duty.
Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the regional police public relations officer, said the officers had been identified and placed under interdiction to allow for an impartial investigation.
The command said it was committed to maintaining professionalism, discipline and accountability within the Ghana Police Service, and warned that any officers found guilty after the investigation would face disciplinary and legal action.
“The Command assures the public of its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability among its personnel,” the statement said.
