NAPLES, Oct 7 (The African Portal) – Italian champions Napoli are reportedly considering a move for Brentford right-back Michael Kayode in the January transfer window as manager Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his defensive options.
According to Italian outlet SpazioNapoli, the Serie A leaders have not yet made a formal approach for the 21-year-old or opened talks with Brentford. Kayode, who joined the Premier League side last year, is under contract until 2030, meaning Napoli would likely have to pay a substantial fee to secure his services.
The Italian defender made limited impact during the latter part of the 2024–25 season but has featured seven times for Brentford so far this campaign. His long throws and high work rate are said to fit Conte’s tactical profile.
Napoli are also monitoring other right-backs but see Kayode as a promising option as they aim to add depth behind captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo.
Under Conte, Napoli claimed their fourth Serie A title last season, their second in three years. They have since strengthened their squad with the arrivals of Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City, Rasmus Hojlund on loan from Manchester United, and winger Noah Lang from PSV Eindhoven.
Napoli currently top the Serie A table with 15 points from six matches, their only defeat coming against AC Milan. They face Torino next on 18 October.
