ACCRA, Oct 1 (The African Portal) – Ghanaian YouTuber and travel vlogger WodeMaya said on Wednesday he was surprised to receive diplomatic treatment at Kotoka International Airport in Accra after being issued a diplomatic passport.
WodeMaya, whose real name is Kobina Ackon, has built a large online following by documenting African communities and stories. Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa recently granted him the passport in recognition of his work promoting the continent.
In a Facebook post, WodeMaya wrote that immigration officers addressed him as “Your Excellency” and escorted him from the queue for diplomatic processing.
The content creator had previously said he was running out of passport pages due to frequent travel.
The YouTuber holds a degree in aeronautical engineering from Shenyang Aerospace University in China. His channel features interviews and documentaries highlighting African achievements and perspectives, including conversations with former Ghanaian President John Kufuor, Kenyan lawyer and Pan-Africanist PLO Lumumba, Air Peace chairman Allen Onyema, and Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing founder Innocent Chukwuma.
