Maputo, Sept 30 (The African Portal) – A group of Islamist terrorists has killed at least four people following jihadist attacks against the district of Macomia, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado.
According to local sources, cited in Tuesday’s issue of the independent newsheet “Carta de Moçambique”, the attack took place last Sunday “and all the victims were shot dead.”
The terrorists operating in Cabo Delgado often behead their victims, but there was no such incident in Sunday’s attack in Macomia.
The raid took place on the outskirts of the district’s main town, around 20.00, specifically in the Nanga A neighborhood, known as the commercial area.
The terrorists also looted several food items from a store belonging to one of the victims. According to local sources, the attack took place without any response from the members of the Mozambican Defense and Security Forces deployed in the district.
Recently, the terrorists had killed at least seven people in the districts of Montepuez and Balama.
According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the total number of people displaced in recent attacks by terrorist groups in Cabo Delgado has risen to 5,770 in the districts of Muidumbe, Mocímboa da Praia and Montepuez.
