NEW YORK, Sept 26 (The African Portal) – Ghana has signed a visa waiver agreement with Antigua and Barbuda on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, officials said on Thursday.
The deal was signed by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and his counterpart, Antigua and Barbuda’s Foreign Minister E.P. Chet Greene.
Ablakwa said the agreement was the 10th such deal secured since he took office, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthen the Ghanaian passport and expand travel opportunities for its citizens.
“The Mahama Administration is deliberate about adding more value to the Ghanaian Passport, projecting our image in the comity of nations and enhancing the travel experience of Ghanaians as we boost trade, tourism, and in this particular instance connect us to our brothers and sisters in the Caribbean,” he said.
He added that visa waiver agreements were key to boosting trade, tourism and cultural ties, and said the latest accord would help deepen Ghana’s links with the Caribbean.
