ACCRA, Nov 26 (The African Portal) – Ghana has inaugurated an 11-member Ministerial Oversight Committee to supervise the country’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The committee, inaugurated by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, will coordinate efforts ahead of the tournament to ensure the Black Stars are well-prepared.
Speaking at the ceremony, Debrah urged members to carry out their duties with integrity and full commitment.
He also encouraged the group to look beyond football and explore broader opportunities the World Cup could present for Ghana.
Ghana qualified for the tournament with a 1–0 win over Comoros in Accra on 12 October, marking the Black Stars’ fifth World Cup appearance since 2006.
Debrah reiterated the need for diligence and transparency from all committee members. The appointed members are:

Meanwhile, the government has allocated GH¢150 million to support the team’s preparations. Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson announced the funding on 13 November during the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament.
Dr Forson said the allocation highlights the government’s commitment to sports development and Ghana’s representation on the global stage. The funds will cover logistics, training, and other preparations ahead of the tournament, which will be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
