The officer, identified as Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Mensah Williams, is reported to be attached to the Office of the Chief of Staff.

Sources within the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) said the incident occurred earlier this week inside a pharmacy within the camp.

A video circulating on social media appears to show a tall man in military uniform confronting the pharmacist before slapping him. The footage then shows the man turning on a female customer, striking her several times in the head after she reportedly tried to film the altercation.

Eyewitnesses described the attack as unprovoked, saying the victims were left visibly shaken.

Military police officers later intervened and arrested WO1 Williams. He has been handed over to the Cantonments Police for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Ghana Armed Forces have not yet issued an official statement, but military sources say internal disciplinary action will be taken if he is found guilty of misconduct.

The incident has drawn widespread concern within the military community, with calls for firm action to uphold discipline and protect the image of the armed forces.

Meanwhile the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has formally issued a statement regarding the arrest of William Mensah, the soldier involved in the assault.
