ACCRA, Oct 27 (The African Portal) – At least three people, including a five-year-old child, have been killed after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a residence in Ghana’s Upper East Region, local sources say.
The attack, which occurred on Sunday in the Binduri District, also left two others injured. Among those wounded is George Bukari, manager of Binduri-based Maxx Empire Radio and TV.
Witnesses said the assailants stormed the home late on Sunday before opening fire. The motive for the attack remains unclear, but residents believe it may be linked to the long-running conflict in nearby Bawku, which has claimed dozens of lives and displaced many families since it flared up in 2021.
In a separate incident, a man reported to be mentally ill was allegedly shot dead by military personnel at Daduri, a suburb of Bawku, further heightening tensions in the area.
