ACCRA, Oct 26 (The African Portal) – Ghana’s National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) said on Saturday that some electronic hospital management systems nationwide are experiencing temporary disruptions, affecting record-keeping and patient processing.
The outage has caused delays at several government hospitals, particularly in the Ashanti Region, where patients reported longer waiting times as facilities reverted to manual record systems following challenges with the Lightwave Health Information Management System (LHIMS).
The NHIA said in a statement that the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders were working to restore full functionality. It directed all National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)–accredited health providers to continue offering services to members without interruption.
Healthcare providers have been advised to use the mobile-based Claims Check Code (CCC) platform to process claims and maintain service continuity.
The NHIA stressed that NHIS members should not make out-of-pocket payments or incur additional costs due to the disruption. It urged affected members to contact its call centre on 054-444-6447 for assistance.
