ACCRA, Oct 15 (The African Portal) – A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Legal and Communications Team, Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu, has called for a fresh and thorough investigation into the killing of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale, after the Attorney General’s Office dropped the case against the main suspect.

The Madina District Court on Tuesday, 14 October, discharged Daniel Owusu Koranteng, who had been charged with murder and abetment of murder in connection with Suale’s death. The decision followed advice from the Attorney General citing insufficient evidence.

Ahmed Suale, a key member of the Tiger Eye P.I. investigative team, was shot dead by unknown assailants in January 2019. His murder sparked outrage in Ghana and drew international condemnation.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily programme on Wednesday, Mr Adawudu urged the police to “go back to the drawing board” and pursue a more professional and evidence-based investigation.

“This case should speak to the conscience of investigators and authorities,” he said. “We must improve the way we conduct investigations and be bold to speak truth to authority.”

He attributed the slow pace of progress in the case to inadequate resources and weak institutional support, describing some past efforts as “armchair investigations.”

Mr Adawudu also commended the Attorney General for what he described as a “bold decision” to discontinue the case, saying it was the right move given the lack of evidence to secure a conviction.

“If they later find facts that connect the suspect, he can still be brought back,” he added, stressing the need for transparency and professionalism to ensure justice for Ahmed Suale.
