ACCRA, Oct 14 (The African Portal) – The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reported 26 new cases of Mpox as of October 10, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 713.
According to the GHS update, three patients are currently receiving treatment in hospital, while the death toll remains at three, with no new fatalities recorded.
The number of confirmed cases had risen to 687 on October 7 after 17 new infections were detected, the Service said.
Health officials have urged the public to remain vigilant and maintain good hygiene to help curb the spread of the virus, which is transmitted mainly through close physical contact with infected individuals.
Common symptoms of Mpox include fever, rash, headache, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills and fatigue.
The GHS advised anyone showing such symptoms to report immediately to the nearest health facility for examination and treatment.
