DODOMA, Oct 3 (The African Portal) – Tanzania head coach Hemed “Morocco” Suleiman has named a 26-man squad for next week’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Zanzibar.
The Taifa Stars host the Group E clash at the Amaan Stadium on Wednesday, 6 October, with Morocco opting for consistency by retaining most of the players who featured in last month’s qualifiers against Niger and Congo.
There was no recall for Aalborg striker Kelvin John despite his good form in Denmark, while veteran forwards Saimon Msuva and captain Mbwana Samatta remain sidelined as the coach continues his transition of the squad.
The call-up features 20 home-based players and six from overseas clubs. Tanzanian giants Azam, Young Africans and Simba dominate the selection, contributing 18 players between them.
Azam goalkeeper Zuberi Foba has received his first senior call-up, joining Yakoub Suleiman of Simba and Singida Black Stars’ Hussein Masalanga.
Among the foreign-based players are defender Haji Mnoga of Salford City in England, Novatus Dismas of Turkey’s Goztepe and Charles M’Mombwa of Maltese side Floriana.
