ACCRA, Sept 26 (The African Portal) – The United States has lifted visa restrictions it recently imposed on Ghanaian nationals, Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said on Friday.
“The US visa restriction imposed on Ghana has been reversed. Ghanaians can now be eligible for five-year multiple entry visas and other enhanced consular privileges,” Ablakwa said in a statement posted on his Facebook account.
He described the decision as “good news.”
Ablakwa said he was informed of the reversal by U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker during a bilateral meeting earlier on Friday on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York.
He added that the move would “further deepen the bilateral relations between Ghana and the US.”
