ACCRA, Sept 27 (The African Portal) -Ghanaian YouTuber Wodemaya has called on African leaders to boycott future United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meetings, saying African leaders are disrespected when they address the forum.
Wodemaya, who has more than 3 million followers on Facebook and was recently granted a diplomatic passport by the Ghanaian government, said African leaders often deliver speeches at the UNGA to half-empty halls.
“Uncle Ben Dotsei Malor, why is it that whenever African leaders speak at the UNGA, the seats in the hall always seem empty? Is there truly no respect for African voices?” he wrote in a Facebook post, tagging a Ghanaian official working at the UN.
The travel vlogger, known for visiting African and Black communities worldwide and projecting their uniqueness, also questioned why Africa has not secured a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
“And how is it that a continent with 54 nations and over a billion people still has no permanent representation on the UN Security Council? Maybe it’s time for Africa’s leaders to consider boycotting the UNGA in 2026!” he said.

Wodemaya shared Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama’s recent UNGA address on his Facebook page, noting that it was delivered to an almost empty hall — a situation he said underscored his frustration.
