ACCRA, Sept 17 (The African Portal) – A Ghanaian man who threatened to kill President John Dramani Mahama and other government officials in a viral video has been jailed for seven months.
David Kwodow Prah Afful, known on social media as Kwame Nkrumah II, pleaded guilty before an Accra Circuit Court to charges of threat of death and offensive conduct likely to breach the peace.
In the TikTok livestream, Afful was seen vowing to kill the president, members of parliament, journalists and civil servants “if he had a gun or cutlass”. He also threatened to burn marketplaces and urged others to commit similar acts.
Police arrested Afful on Saturday, 13 September, at his hideout near Kasoa Market. He later asked government officials to forgive him for his actions.
In a statement, the Ghana Police Service said: “While it upholds freedom of speech, it will not tolerate statements that incite violence, insecurity, or public disorder.”
