News about his death has begun spreading across traditional and new media in Ghana. Apostle Kwadwo Safo, who founded the Kristo Asafo Church, is reported to have died on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

Ghanaian media have quoted a statement reportedly issued by Kwadwo Safo’s family, describing him as “a true genius, a beacon of hope for many, and a father to the fatherless,” and adding that his life was defined by resilience, courage, determination, and unwavering dedication to his calling.

The African Portal has not independently verified this statement. The said statement has been added below this article.

Apostle Kwadwo Safo is celebrated in Ghana as a renowned man of God, industrialist, philanthropist, agriculturist, and technological innovator. He founded the Kantanka Group, an automobile company based at Gomoa Mpota, where he also established his study centre, known as the Apostle Safo Suayɛ Centre.

The Apostle Safo Suayɛ Centre at Gomoa Mpota houses the most successful automobile assembly plant in Africa, the Kantanka Factory. It is home to many of the groundbreaking innovations of the celebrated tech innovator, Apostle Prof. Ing. Kwadwo Safo.

The Centre occupies a 140-acre piece of land, which serves as training grounds for youth across Ghana interested in learning handicrafts, acquiring technical skills, or pursuing careers in information technology to help build the Africa of tomorrow.

Full Statement Issued by the Safo Family

With profound sorrow and deepest grief, the Safo Family and the Kristo Asafo Church announce the peaceful passing of Ghana’s beloved man of God, the greatest technological icon, philanthropist, agriculturalist, and industrialist, popularly referred to as “Kantanka, the African Star.”

Our dearest father passed away peacefully on Thursday, 11th September 2025. Romans 14:8 states, “For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord.”

Apostle Safo was a true genius, a beacon of hope for many, and a father to the fatherless. Ghana has indeed lost a gallant son and a true legend.

His unique persona was shaped by life struggles, dreams, resilience, courage, determination, and dedication to his calling and conviction.

During this time of grief, we humbly request that the general public respect the privacy of the family and loved ones.

The burial and funeral arrangements shall be duly communicated in the coming days.

Signed: Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo (Esq)
