GJA opens entries for 29th media awards

ACCRA, Sept 12 (The African Portal) – The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has announced the opening of entries for the 29th GJA Media Awards.

Entries open on Friday, September 12, 2025, and close on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 23:59 hrs.

The GJA, in a statement on Friday, September 12, said “there shall be no extension to the submission.”

It further said only members of the GJA in good standing are eligible to participate in the awards and they are required to submit works published/broadcast in 2024. Entries are to be submitted strictly online via https://we.tl/r-KqYf62tiQ0 which is a WeTransfer platform.

This year’s awards will be held at Manhyia, Kumasi, Ashanti Regional capital.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS & RULES

  • The competition is open to members in good standing who are working in the print (including news agency), electronic and online media in Ghana.
  • Members of the National Executive and the GJA Media Awards Committee are not eligible to contest.
  • Entries should cover works published from January 1, 2024to December 31, 2024.
  • Applicants may submit entries for a maximum of two award divisions and not more than twopublished/broadcast works should be submitted for each award division.
  • However, one work shall notbe entered in more than one award division.
  • Applicants should submit clear, originalpublished work of each entry.
  • Applicants must upload a clear passport size photofor their entries.
  • Student journalists must upload a scanned copy of their Student ID Cardfor their entries.
  • Applicants are advised to secure strong Internet connection to ensure easy and fast uploading of entries.
  • Entries are open from Friday, September 12, 2025to Tuesday, September 30, 2025 (23:59hrs).
  • Entries should be titled ‘GJA MEDIA AWARDS 2025 and must have personal details, media house and contact of the applicants.
  • The GJA is NOTbound to give an award in a division if it does not merit one.
  • The Awards Committee shall selectthe overall best story from the various awards divisions for consideration by the National Executive as winner of the GJA / P. A. V. Ansah Journalist of the Year; Best Female Journalist of the Year; Komla Dumor Most Promising Journalist of the Year and Best Student Journalist of the Year.

 BEST STUDENT JOURNALIST OF THE YEAR (Open to students of accredited journalism / communication training institutions whose works were published in 2023. Such entrants must upload a scanned copy of a valid student’s identity card to support their entry)

  • GJA/KOMLA DUMOR MOST PROMISING JOURNALIST OF THE YEAR (Open to journalists of the Association not more than 25 years)
  • BEST FEMALE JOURNALIST (Open to female journalists of the Association)

 

  • DIVISION SIX (Journalist Of The Year)
  • GJA/P.A.V. ANSAH JOURNALIST OF THE YEAR
